Part-Time and Full-Time cooks for New Cafe + Assistant Manager

Grounded is a new cafe serving Partners Coffee and plant-forward bites, located within the Brooklyn Flow wellness space in Park Slope. We strive to provide high quality beverages and nutritious (and delicious) food to our guests, while serving as a friendly community gathering space.

We are seeking full-time and part-time cooks to be part of our opening team, as well as an experienced cook+assistant manager who is interested in growing with us. We are looking for quick learners and people enthusiastic about nutritious food. We are starting with a small menu, but will be expanding to hot food after opening.
Responsibilities include:
Learn and follow recipes and techniques from managers, chef, and other staff. We all strive to be better together!
Prepare and plate food items for customers as requested, including smoothies, and acai bowls.
Execute prep work during slow times.
Organize and label all food items in storage per DOH standards and food safety guidelines. Inspect food products and supplies as needed.
Clear and open communication with the chef and coworkers.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times, as part of maintaining a proper and safe work environment and complying with all health and safety regulations.
Interact with fellow colleagues, staff and guests in a positive and professional demeanor.
Control and minimize waste.
Clear tables and wash dishes, restock retail shelves, clean
Prepare the space for pest control visits as needed
The cook + assistant manager role will also be responsible for the following:
Supervise and help train staff.
Maintain inventory lists. Create daily prep lists.
Place orders. Receive and inspect orders.
Willingness to jump in and do whatever is needed.
Keep on top of industry trends.
Work closely with the manager & chef to ensure the cafe is running smoothly.
Qualifications for all roles:
Kitchen experience or culinary education. New graduates are welcome to apply for cook roles.
Strong work ethic. Self motivated and dependable.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Comfortable standing for long periods of time, squatting, twisting, and moving frequently. Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
Able to communicate clearly with co-workers.
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow tickets and on-screen orders.
Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and appliances.
Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices.
Must possess basic culinary math skills.
Understanding of dietary restrictions and food allergies.
Available on weekends and early mornings.
New York State Food Protection Certificate is a huge plus.
While not required, barista experience is a plus.
The cook+assistant manager role also requires the following:
3+ years culinary experience. Some management experience.
Strong culinary math skills.
Strong problem solving ability.
New York State Food Protection Certificate is required.
Preference will be given to those with passion for or interest in healing and nourishing foods.

Compensation:
Cooks - $15-18 per hour plus tips
Cook+assistant manager role - $18-22 per hour
