Head Chef

Matchaful is a plant-based matcha wellness cafe in NYC. We will be expanding our retail footprint in 2020 and are looking for a Head Chef to lead our food program.

We are looking for someone who has creative and operational experience, has experience with running a kitchen, food service & cafe management experience. We are also looking to expand our product line with energy bars, vegan soft-serve, and other unique matcha-based products.

Operations:

Implementing and executing new seasonal food and drink items across multiple locations
Leading big projects like planning and opening new cafes in Williamsburg and Whole Foods
Managing sales targets
Managing existing and all future kitchen staff
Make kitchen schedules using WhenIWork
Track costs and sales
Optimizing our packaging assortment
Developing systems to better manage inventory and ordering while reducing waste
Monitor all ingredient ordering and delivery
Hire and train all new kitchen employees
Embody leadership within the space
Uphold all food safety procedures

Creative:

Creating new menu items seasonally
Building our catering and event business
Direct the menu, thinking about its purpose and meaning in relation to the matcha drink offerings and the Matchaful brand
Lead the development of new seasonal drinks each season
Use interesting, exciting, plant-based and gluten free ingredients to create innovative offerings
Engage customers with food offerings

Requirements:

Must demonstrate a strong interest in health and wellness
Must have experience and interest working with vegan and alternative ingredients
Must have 2+ years experience managing a kitchen staff
Must be a NYC Food Protection Certificate holder
