Head Baker

Knead Love Bakery is a gluten-free, mostly vegan bakery that creates gluten-free sourdough breads, bagels, cookies, treats, and specialty items. We sell at the GrowNYC Greenmarket, offer shipping nationwide, and also partner with select wholesale accounts. Our focus is on regional ingredients as well as nutrient dense baked goods, and working without refined sugars. We believe in supporting our local supply chain, and partner with farmers and growers in our region as much as possible.

We are looking for a strong baker to join our team. Vegan/Gluten-free experience is not required but a plus. You should have at least 3-4 years experience working in a commercial bakery. This position is a wonderful growth opportunity for the right candidate. Currently our production schedule is four days a week (Mon, Tues, Thursday and Friday) but this is subject to change as we expand in 2021.

Responsibilities include:
-Baking of pastries
-Preparation of batters and doughs
-Ensuring completion of daily food preparation and timeliness in production
-Managing daily team
-Basic kitchen maintenance
-Developing new recipes for seasonal items

Requirements:
Professional kitchen experience and basic baking/pastry techniques
Ability to follow recipes exactly as they are written
Willingness to take direction and accept constructive criticism
Good communication skills
Be focused and punctual
Have a good attitude!
Knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service
A NYC Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to get one during your training period)
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods of time
Fluent in English
Keeping a tidy workspace and bringing positivity to our bakery team :)

Salary based on experience.
