Tonic Alchemist & Sous Chef in Kauai
Kilauea, HI
This job will start in Kauai but as we are opening up locations on the mainland as well this could turn into a salaried position where you travel and help us open up new locations.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen
Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and execute menu items
Monitor food production and ensure timely delivery of meals
Maintain inventory control and order supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
Assist in menu planning, costing, and pricing
Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety procedures
Manage shift schedules and allocate resources effectively
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a culinary role, preferably as a Sous Chef or similar position
Strong knowledge of food service, catering, and kitchen management principles
Proven experience in menu planning, food production, and inventory control
Familiarity with dietary department operations and special dietary requirements
Excellent leadership and communication skills\
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
