Personal Chef / Kitchen Manager / Organic Gardener

McLeod, MT

Our ranch in McLeod, MT has an excellent career opportunity for someone who has a true passion for natural foods cooking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shop for & cook healthy, natural meals (3-4 dinners per week, some lunches) for a family of 7 and their guests at a ranch in McLeod, MT

• Plan menus based on the families’ preferences but always with a focus on health and whole foods

• Be willing to try new things and be enthusiastic about natural cooking

• Manage the all-organic vegetable garden - plan, plant and take care of the crops and compost

• Pick up CSA orders, farm orders or grocery store orders once or twice a week for the families (if requested)

• Keep establishment in proper working order and spotless, addressing any issues (appliances, plumbing etc) promptly

• Observe occupational, health, and safety standards in the kitchen

• Ensure paperwork accuracy such as grocery receipts, seed receipts, petty cash reimbursement, etc.

• Be able to manage and train (if necessary) a kitchen assistant (TBD)

• During the slow(er) winter months, stock the families’ pantries with non perishables and frozen meals as requested

• Stock the fridge and pantry of guest houses as specified before visitors arrive

Requirements:

• Be very comfortable in a kitchen

• Graduate of a natural chef culinary program is a plus, but not a requirement - enthusiasm for natural cooking is more important

• Knowledge of natural foods or willingness to learn

• Great communication skills

• Strong work ethic and integrity

• Be willing to relocate to McLeod, MT for most of the year (housing provided)

• Have a sense of adventure and be a team player

• Have a "Do Whatever It Takes Attitude" and a hands-on, lead by example, management style

• Be able to follow instructions and respect dietary preferences/needs to a T

Ranch description:
Our ranch in McLeod, MT is a new family compound co-owned by two sibling families. Each family has their own home on the ranch. The cooking position will mostly take place in a common area lodge that is separate from the families’ homes. The lodge is a gathering place for everyone and their guests and it is complete with a large kitchen and pantry. We are very excited to find the right person to become part of the team!
