Head Chef

Liberation Cuisine will be vending food at a weekly outdoor market located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Liberation Cuisine is hiring a Head Chef to run the kitchen and lead food preparation for the market. Ideal candidate will be committed to ​our mission​ and want to grow with the company.

Position: ​Head Chef
Schedule: ​Fridays 4:30pm-12:30am and optional hours on Saturdays 8am-8pm (April - October)
Pay: ​commensurate with experience
Start Date:​ April 3, 2020 (accepting applications until position is filled)

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Kitchen Manager

    • lead a professional, safe, and high-caliber kitchen

    • ensure food prep follows Department of Health codes and regulations

      *must have a food handler’s license or be registered to take exam*

    • track inventory and order ingredients

    • keep recipe cards up to date

    • train new kitchen team members (with manager)

    • maintain record of team hours and attendance

    • oversee kitchen team and facilitate teamwork

    • maintain equipment and communicate when repairs or replacement needed

    • communicate needs of the kitchen team to manager

    • possibility to lead kitchen for additional catering events

  • Culinary Director

    • maintain high quality food product

    • ensure dishes are created as designed

    • create menu adjustments according to sales data and in alignment with
      mission

    • work with manager to transition business into a cooperative brick and mortar

    • further develop menu for growth of business

  • Vending ​(optional)

    • lead the kitchen team during Saturday vending service

    • approve all dishes before they reach customer
