We are searching for an accomplished cook to create meals in our brand-new kitchen in accordance to recipes and under the chef’s guidance. The cook's responsibilities include setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean workstation, and informing customers when orders are ready. You will also monitor inventory to ensure that you always have sufficient supplies.
To be successful as a cook, you should be a skilled multitasker who adheres to food safety codes. An ideal candidate will be dependable, diligent, and always willing to improve on the job.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare meat, fish and vegetables by slicing, portioning, and cooking them as needed
• Maintain inventory by tracking, labeling, and replacing key ingredients
• Ensure the timely delivery of all meals
• Follow all relevant food, health and safety guidelines
• Maintain a workstation that is both clean and sanitary
• Communicate with the chef about ordering and about any maintenance issues
• Ensure all food items are labeled and stored properly
• Serve customers during open café hours
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Previous cooking experience
• Ensure that food tastes good, is visually appealing and is served in a timely manner
• Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen
• Strong communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Knowledge of and willingness to embrace important food health and safety guidelines
• Willingness to continue learning and improving your craft
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
• Culinary school training and batch cookery will be an asset
This is a full-time position with a Monday – Friday, 6:15am-2:45pm, schedule, and we are centrally located in midtown Manhattan.
Salary ranges from $34,300 - $36,400 with below benefits.
