Freelance Culinary Assistant

Dan Fink Studio is a premier interior design and architecture firm, seeking a freelance culinary assistant to elevate the client, employee, and guest experience in our studio. We are seeking a dynamic and personable candidate who is passionate about creating lasting memories around meals. This role offers a unique opportunity to showcase and grow your culinary expertise in a creative environment. In partnering with the studio’s principal and founder, you will together create menus, displays and exceptional experiences. The candidate’s schedule should allow for some flexibility based on the needs of the studio. You can anticipate standing weekly and monthly responsibilities and associated hours as well as ad hoc needs for client and partner meals and events.
Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and serve smaller-scale breakfasts, lunches and dinners on an ongoing basis for clients and industry partners to elevate the experience in our studio
Assist with ad hoc event catering and preparation as needed – potentially working evenings or mornings
Work with the principal to create various menus of seasonally inspired meals
Monitor food stock levels and place orders/shop accordingly to ensure an adequate inventory in the studio kitchen
Maintain pantry staples on a weekly basis and keep the studio refrigerator stocked with a variety of healthy snack options for grab-and-go convenience
Ability to partner with additional catering support for larger studio events (2x/year)
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs and willingness to adapt to evolving needs
Strong attention to presentation – from keeping a tidy kitchen during service to storing, plating, and serving food
Classic, fine dining technique and training is preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of culinary methods, techniques, and standards
Proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment
Culinary school diploma and/or experience in restaurant kitchens
Experience with arranging and upkeeping florals is a plus, but not required
Salary: $30-$40
