We’re looking for a talented Chef that can cater as well as provide customized personal chef services. Opportunity for potential full-time advancement in a nurturing, collaborative environment with scheduled weekend stays at retreat centers. Seeking a chef who can mentor others in the kitchen, work independently, and demonstrate creativity in menu planning.

Job Summary:
Create memorable dining experiences for our clients, both at retreat centers and private residences. Collaborating closely with local farmers, you will source seasonal ingredients to craft weekly and seasonal menus that reflect our commitment to sustainability and quality.

This role offers flexible work hours, and the opportunity to lead others in the kitchen, scaling recipes effectively. Candidates must possess their own vehicle to facilitate catering at various locations. As our company expands, there is potential for this position to expand into full-time.

Responsibilities:

  1. Menu Planning and Preparation:
    - Collaborate with clients to understand dietary preferences, restrictions, and event goals.
    - Utilize your culinary creativity and knowledge of local, seasonal ingredients to ensure exceptional taste and presentation.
    - Ability to effectively scale recipes and maintain organized kitchen operations to ensure timely meal preparation.

  2. Responsible Sourcing and Collaboration:
    - Source high-quality ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.
    - Stay informed about seasonal produce and incorporate farm harvests into menu planning
    - Foster relationships with suppliers committed to sustainable practices.

  3. Retreat Culinary Services:
    - Overnight stays at retreat centers in the Bay area, Marin, Mendocino, Boonville. Chef will reside onsite during scheduled stays to prepare meals in accordance with scheduled programming.
    - Manage food inventory and kitchen staff, ensuring efficient operations and client satisfaction.
    - Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards, creating an inviting environment for retreat attendees.

  4. Community-Driven Approach:
    - Engage with clients to deliver personalized culinary experiences that foster community connections.

  5. Flexible Schedule and Supportive Environment:
    - Enjoy the benefits of a flexible work schedule, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
    - Collaborate within a supportive team environment that encourages growth and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Culinary degree or relevant certifications preferred. At least two years working in a restaurant, as a personal chef, or BOH catering.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable sourcing and creating seasonal menus.

  • Excellent culinary skills, with proficiency in various cooking techniques.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, retreat coordinators, and other team members.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional service.

  • Ability and willingness to stay overnight at retreat centers as required.

  • Passion for community-driven culinary experiences and commitment to sustainability.

  • Owns a reliable vehicle, ability to carry equipment up to 25 lbs pounds.

  • Speaks, reads, and writes fluently in English.
